Monochrome

As fall moves into winter, daylight wanes and darkness creeps in early signaling the return of my melancholy moods. Winter is the time for beach and forest walks and the solitude I crave during the dormant months. Days can be gloomy but sometimes the setting sun appears in late afternoon creating beautiful patterns of light and shadow. Suddenly I see the world in stunning shades of monochrome that lift my spirits only to be overtaken as twilight appears. This feeling lingers for a while longer but then disappears as day fades into night.
